Implementation
• Support the successful implementation of Epic applications at the clinic. Responsible for understanding all operations and care processes for their regional clinics.
• Participate as a key member of the clinical implementation team to understand workflows, configuration/design decisions, and policy considerations, and to assist with the project coordination and site readiness.
• Develop test plans, and participate in integration testing.
• Participate in the identification and resolution of all implementation issues.
• Participate in developing the training plans, training materials and training of clinic staff.
• Participate in all go-live activities including user security, device testing, and on-site support.
• Provide direct support to clinical operations and patient care teams to facilitate the introduction, acceptance, integration, and optimal use of the Epic application in the clinic. Troubleshooting application issues and owning the resolutions through Access help desk procedures.
Governance
• Support the IS Clinical Governance committees in developing and implementing a clinical information systems strategy supporting the Health Center of the Future. Collaborate with clinic leadership and clinical governance to identify opportunities using Epic to support process improvements and improved health outcomes in our clinic operations, clinical practice, quality and research initiatives.
o Analyze and recommend documentation standards; work with the other regional lead clinical systems specialists to implement and maintain the documentation standards. Implement the smart text, smart phrase and smart set standards.
o Work with External Affairs and participate in our research initiatives supporting evidenced based healthcare; implement clinical data capabilities in our record to support our grants; help define clinical reporting requirements for IS Decision Support group and the clinical data warehouse strategy.
o Facilitate development and implementation of operational and Epic systems flows to support our Affiliation agreements.
o Support the IS Integration Services area in all clinical interfaces.
o Work with Quality and participate in our quality initiatives; ensure standard data collection and data reporting processes are in place.
• Analyze, document and recommend action on service requests to the IS clinical governance leadership.
On-going Support
• Provide first level support to the regional clinics: troubleshooting, coaching, and consulting. Follow up on all system issues to closure.
• Work with IS security to maintain user password changes.
• Follow systems development life cycle methodology to implement new functions and upgrades to the system.
• Provide one to one training. Identify system wide training needs and work with the Training department to coordinate training, and develop training materials
• Bachelors Degree in a health related field required; nursing or physician assistant degree preferred
• Masters degree in a health related field, Computer Science, Information Management or Health Informatics preferred.
• Ten years of experience as a clinician, or as a clinician and clinical information system analyst.
• Experience implementing an electronic health record strongly preferred
• Exercises sound judgment in problem solving, critical analysis and customer relations.
• Possesses the ability to manage multiple competing, complex tasks.
• Demonstrates adaptability, flexibility, approachability and a willingness to work with others in a highly collaborative team environment.
• Strong PC skills required.
• Strong and effective listening, written, oral and presentation skills required.
• Demonstrates the ability to work independently, establish priorities, identify and initiate projects.
• Demonstrates the ability to mentor other clinical system analysts.
